Movie Boner: Out of Africa

by

This movie is the ground zero of every cliché africa/safari themed fashion editorial since 1985. My momma probably watched it at least once a week and I’m convinced my dislike of all things romance stem from there.

“I had a faaaaaaaaaaaarm in Africa” Meryl Streep as Karen Blixen.

rewind! before her wild african life, karen is in denmark. womyn+gunz= sexxy. look at all that strategically placed furrrrrr.

so many awesome hats in this movie

Meryl Streep is not the hottest person in this movie. Meet Robert Redford, Ralph Lauren archetype

colonial styling 101: off white is your best friend. Karen marries very Baron Blixen.

It’s a man’s world running the farm so of course she has to dress the part

check out all this leather: tough yet elegant

new hat! want this jacket

house clothes are delicate and feminine to contrast with the man’s world outside

I can get behind this pale pink. so luxurious

please notice how her skin is adapting to the african sun.

the world famous saharienne finally makes an appearance

gotta match your gloves to your outfit

this sexy disheveled is how i look every morning

do you think this skirt length will ever make a comeback?

smouldering sexxie. too much

Ann this scarf shot is for you

proto- Dries Van Noten?

IMAN!!!

I’ve been wanting these boots since 1985

Ha this looks so 80s

Love Meryl. Love these costumes. Netflix and let’s discuss.

    Bonerettes,

Please do yourselves the favor of watching Babette’s Feast! It’s based on a story from my most favorite book by Isak Dineson (AKA Karen Blixen) and is my most favorite movie.

It’s probably the most sensual, fantastical movie about food and puritans ever.
