Winter: f*** off

April 6, 2010

Winter, I admit we had some good times. I loved the romantic bleakness and the things you did to the light. But honestly, now that spring is here it’s hard to remember the appeal. So, instaboners, take one last look and then lets say goodbye.

Kansan Cuisine

February 12, 2010

So not to get all Stephen Shore on you folks but I really have to share with you my lunch from a little diner in downtown Emporia, Kansas. I should of known what I was getting myself into by the awesome menu cover:

But really, I had no idea that the hot beef sandwich, or really any thing at all, could possibly involve this much gravy. Just to break down what we have here, this is a white bread sandwich filled with hot beef, as promised, and then smothered in gravy, with a side of mashed potatoes and of course, some more gravy. Also, I’m sure you are already well aware, but there is a ton of bacon in those green beans and the cake came with the meal. All that was missing was a deep fried component to make this lunch any more unhealthy. Fortunately my friend sitting across from me had some french fries.

Full disclosure: I ate the shit out of this and it was delicious.

GOD I LOVE MARTIN SHEEN.

Not more than I love The Boss, however. Never that much.

And, I’m pretty sure you guys need to see this. Holy. Mother of.

And then finally, these dudes:

Watch out Jerusalem, there’s a new kid in town

Ok, according to my guide book, this temple in Independence, Missouri, is the spot where Mormon Jesus is supposed to return. Or some say it’s actually the spot across the street. But the point is he’s coming back…to Missouri.

Kinda appropriate for dudeweek? I definitely know some ladies in love with the big-J. My friend Miriam actually requested that I do not show the image below to her mom, whose collection of sexy Jesus paintings is extensive. And this statue could not be more beef cake. Just look at those pecs.

Behold, Leslie

January 7, 2010

For those of you still uninitiated with the awesomeness that is Leslie Hall, please check out Ann’s very informative post and get educated.

The bright spot of my New Year’s was definitely seeing Leslie and the Ly’s perform at the Record Bar in Kansas City. If you have a chance to check her out then GO, seriously, just throw on your best sequined ensemble and GO. Check for tour dates here. You’ll thank me later.

Anyways, after the show I am wondering around, whiskey drunk and punch drunk, you know how it goes, and next thing I know, THIS happened:

Yeah, that’s right. I wish I could take more credit for these pics, but really it was all I could do to stop giggling long enough to get these guys in focus. Leslie, you have bedazzled my heart.
