Dude. Talk about movies that shaped you as a kid. Troop Beverly Hills is one of those movies that if you’ve seen it, I probably like you. If you can reference it as an adult, I probably love you. If you’re like Lindsay and you can recite the entire Cookie Time song from memory, I will actually love you forever.

Related, has anyone seen The Wizard (another young Jenny Lewis vehicle also from ’89)? Because if so, I’d either like to buy you a drink or give you a big wet kiss on the mouth.

New instafriend Lori, representin from BK reminded me this weekend of Paula’s early influence choreographing Janet.

When was the last time you danced down the street with a group of people? Mine was this past weekend with Lori and Jenny Mac.  Modern day street dancing merely requires an ipod shuffle mini boombox. Srsly, they are AWESOME

Then comes Paula again.  Oh yeah.

Star-studded and chock fulla lessons

The used DVD set is on sale for $52.95 on Amazon. I’m seriously considering purchasing it.

I cannot even begin to explain how much Faerie Tale Theater shaped my childhood/adulthood. Independent of the fact that Rumpelstiltskin and The Snow Queen both scared the ever-bonin’ shit out of me, I remember even as a kid thinking that it was kind of cool that in the FTT version, the Prince and Little Mermaid didn’t end up together.

Similarly, nothing is more comforting than the sweet cadence of this chick’s voice.

Even if she also really scared me.

This goes out to my brother and the most karaoke ready ipod ever. We belted this gem several times on the drive to and from our parents house this holiday. Of course I had to youtube this shit and was not disappointed. LOVE the corset and heels! And the lovely flag ladies! Thanks Raymond!

His name is Blane? Oh! That’s a major appliance, that’s not a name!

Let’s not talk about how devastated I get every time I watch Pretty in Pink and Duckie doesn’t end up with Andie. I know I know John Cryer= poor man’s Matthew Broderick.

This scene (amina’s top 5 movie scenes) with Duckie banging and stomping the floor as the song reaches the pinnacle is classic.

PS: I watched footloose for the first time saturday. WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME IT WAS SO CRAZY?!*  who is that lady playing kevin bacon’s lover? WHY IS SHE SO CRAZY? why didn’t sarah jessica parker play her part (cf. girls just wanna have fun)? I thought this was a movie about dancing. I really did like it though (just disappointed it was so weak dance-wise and seriously that chick was s00 zanie) Is flashdance better? Help you guys, I need to rethink my netflix queue.

*to be fair I thought this was flashdance so I was waiting for that sexy water+bucket scene to come on. (stop laughing Brittany Morgan! I didn’t grow up here… so much to catch up on)

We’re gonna miss you, Oprah!

So Oprah announced she’s going off the air in 2011. I’ve temporarily set aside my (wagon of fat-size) grief and started plotting ways to see her in Chicago.

Let’s start off the day with some vintage O clips.

1. love love LOVE Dolly and the outfts going on here:
